BOSTON – Six of the seven #AEMLAX programs took the field last week with three earning wins.
Vermont kicked this off by beating B1G foe Penn State, 16-10, on Wednesday. UMBC started its season with an impressive win, knocking off reigning CAA champs #17 Drexel, 12-8, at home. Stony Brook also won, beating Robert Morris, 18-14, to improve to 2-0.
Nine more games are on the schedule this week.
The preseason poll was announced on January 26.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Offensive Player of the Week
Brett Baucia, UMBC – Gr., Attack, Crofton, Md.
- Scored a career-best four goals in UMBC’s season-opening win vs. #17 Drexel.
- All four tallies came in the second half.
- Also added five ground balls.
- This is Baucia’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Anthony Palma, Stony Brook – Sr., Goalie, East Islip, N.Y.
- Made a career-best 17 saves in Stony Brook’s win over Robert Morris.
- Registered a .550 save percentage.
- Added two ground balls.
- This is Palma’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and second of his career (2/22/21).
Rookie of the Week
Charlie Pope, Vermont – Fr., Attack, Reistertown, Md.
- Posted a career-best three points on two goals and an assist in Vermont’s win at Penn State Wednesday.
- This is Pope’s first career Rookie of the Week award.
