Foley Leads #AEMLAX Week #1 Award Winners

BOSTON – The 2022 men’s lacrosse season is underway! Five America East men’s lacrosse program took the field ahead of all seven #AEMLAX teams playing this weekend. 

Stony Brook picked up thrilling win over 13-12 Fairfield on Mike McCannell’s late score. 

Seven more non-conference games take place this week with each program taking the field. UAlbany and UMBC kick off their campaigns Saturday.
  
 
The preseason poll was announced on January 26.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEMLAX Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 14
Offensive Player of the Week
Conor Foley, UMass Lowell – Jr., Attack, Walpole, Mass.
  • Totaled a league-high seven points on a career-best four goals and three assists.
  • This is Foley’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tommy Burke, Vermont – Faceoff Specialist, Jr., Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Won 62 percent of his faceoffs in two games.
  • Went 17-for-26 at #3 Duke.
  • Collected 11 ground balls.
  • This is Burke’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Gage Adams, NJIT – Fr., Attack, Lake Washington, Wash.
  • Posted three points on two goals and an assist against No. 15 Lehigh.
  • Has seven points on four goals and three assists in two games.
  • This is Adams’ first career Rookie of the Week award.
