KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club have announced the 15 semifinalists for the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy, with Vermont Alex Nagy and New Hampshire’s Moise Bombito earning recognition.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. Nagy was one of five semifinalists who were on the watch list when it was released back in August. Bombito is the fifth Wildcat in the last four seasons to be named a semifinalist.
Nagy is the first Catamount to be named a semifinalist for the prestigious trophy since Brian Wright in 2016. The fifth-year senior tallied a team-high 27 points (9 goals, 9 assists) in 17 games this season to help lead the Catamounts to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. Nagy averaged 1.59 points per game, which ranked No. 11 in the country, and 0.53 assists per game, which ranked No. 12. The UVM midfielder led his squad in points, assists, shots, shots on goal, and game-winning goals in 2022.
Bombito was named the 2022 America East Defender of the Year, while he also earned First-Team All-Conference accolades. He tied for third on the team with four goals and tied for second with two game winners. Bombito led a defense that was third in the nation with a 0.500 team goals against average.
