Four Named NHFCA All-Americans

GENEVA, N.Y. - Four America East field hockey student-athletes earned All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
 
UAlbany’s Alison Smisdom was the lone representative on the NFHCA First Team, while Poppy Lambert of Maine was selected to the Second Team. UNH’s Tasmin Cookman and Maine’s Chloe Walton were selected to the Third Team.
 
This marks the third time in the past four seasons that three schools had players named All-Americans. The four All-Americans is also the most for the America East since 2019, when the conference had four honorees.
 
Smisdom led UAlbany to the 2022 America East Championship and into the NCAA Second Round following an overtime victory against No. 4 Michigan. She was recently honored as the Northeast Region Player of the Year and was also the America East Midfielder of the Year after totaling 39 points on 15 goals and nine assists.
 
Lambert was an All-Region selection and the America East Defender of the Year after scoring a school-record 22 goals to go with seven assists for 51 points. She helped lead Maine to its second straight America East Regular Season Championship.
 
Cookman was one of four freshmen honored as an All-American after finishing the year ranked seventh nationally in points per game, concluding the season with 43 points on 16 goals and 11 assists. She was honored as the America East Rookie of the Year and was also named First-Team All-Region.
 
Walton earns her first All-America honors after being selected as the America East Offensive Player of the Year. She scored 11 goals and led Maine to its first undefeated conference record in program history. Walton was also a First-Team All-Region selection.
