It was a day of upsets as No. 5 Stanford and No. 6 New Hampshire both came away with victories to advance into the semifinals of the America East Field Hockey Championship. The two teams will play tomorrow at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. with a bid to Sunday’s championship on the line.
The Wildcats secured a dramatic 2-1 victory in a shootout, winning the shootout due to impressive work from goalkeeper Jemma Woods to advance to their first semifinal since 2017. The Cardinal took an early 1-0 lead over No. 4 Vermont, but the Catamounts tied the contest at 1 apiece late in the fourth. Stanford captured the win by scoring with just under two minutes left.
Stanford will face off against top seed Maine at 12 p.m. on Friday, while New Hampshire battles No. 2 seed UAlbany. Both games will air on ESPN+.

#5 Stanford 2, #4 Vermont 1
- Stanford took a 1-0 lead on a penalty corner at 10:47. Taylor Tottie registered the goal, with an assist by Scout Butler.
- The Cardinal limited Vermont to just two shots through the first three quarters while holding onto their 1-0 advantage.
- In the fourth, the Catamounts finally broke through at 53:01 with Meg Weyer’s goal.
- Haley Mossler provided the game winner with just 1:46 left, ripping a shot into the bottom left corner and the defense did the rest to hold on for the win.
#6 New Hampshire 2, #3 UMass Lowell 1 (SO)
- The game was scoreless at the half, though UMass Lowell held a 7-3 advantage in shots.
- UNH broke through first, scoring with just five minutes remaining in regulation on a breakaway goal by Leah Glidden.
- The River Hawks answered with 59 seconds left on a penalty corner as Berbel Rozema scored off a feed from Madison Leeper.
- The game went to a shootout after two scoreless overtimes. Jemma Woods saved multiple shootout attempts as UNH won the shootout 2-0 to secure the 2-1 victory.
