Women’s #AEHoops Week 3: Catamounts Go Undefeated

BOSTON, Mass. – Vermont went 3-0 last week while Maine won a pair, and they are two of four America East teams with at least a .500 record following a busy week of contests.
 
Looking Back
  • UVM opened the week with a dominant win over Army (60-37) and then claimed the TD Bank Classic by dispatching Stonehill 70-48 and outlasting Siena 57-51.  
  • Maine went 2-1 last week, taking down Northeastern 61-59 and then falling to Kansas, who is receiving votes nationally, before beating Niagara 73-57 to close out the week.
  • NJIT started its week with a 57-50 victory over LIU and then took Monmouth to OT, but fell 70-62.
 
The Week Ahead
  • There are 18 women’s basketball contests this week.
  • Maine is the only team to play three times, facing Gonzaga on the road Monday night, before hosting Princeton Friday and then traveling to Rhode Island on Sunday.
  • Six teams are in action on Tuesday, highlighted by UMass Lowell traveling to face Harvard at 7 p.m.
  • On Saturday, seven teams take to the court. UMBC faces off against Temple, while UAlbany hosts Cornell and Binghamton welcomes Fairfield.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live!. The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

The women’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 19.
 
2022-23 Weekly Award Winners (Nov. 28)
Player of the Week
Emma Utterback, Vermont – Sr., Guard, Greenwood, Indiana
  • Averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest across a 3-0 week.
  • Named MVP of TD Bank Classic after averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.
  • Posted 20 points with five assists and four rebounds in a win over Siena to conclude the week.
  • This is Utterback’s fifth #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
 
Rookie of the Week
Breezie Williams, New Hampshire – Fr., Guard, Canton, Ohio
  • Averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in two losses.
  • Scored a career-high 17 points with five assists and four rebounds in a loss to USF.
  • Concluded the week­ with 12 points, four rebounds and one steal against Boston University.
  • This is Williams’ first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
