BOSTON, Mass. – Both Binghamton and NJIT came away with two victories last week, and the Highlanders were the lone America East program to go undefeated, improving their record to 3-2 overall.
Looking Back
- NJIT bounced back from a tough loss to Rutgers last Sunday and this week started with a win over St. Francis Brooklyn. The Highlanders then took down Central Connecticut State in overtime, 71-65, after scoring in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game.
- Binghamton fell to Syracuse to start the week, but bounced back with wins over Pittsburgh Johnstown and Canisius to improve to 4-1 on the season.
- UAlbany started the season 3-0 behind a 64-50 victory at Navy, but saw the week end with a tough loss to Colgate.
- UMBC garnered its second win of the season, beating St. Francis Brooklyn 64-59 on Sunday.
The Week Ahead
- There are 20 women’s basketball games scheduled this holiday week.
- On Monday, Bryant, Maine and Vermont are in action as they host Loyola, Army and Northeastern.
- UMass Lowell continues its tough scheduling, with a battle against 3-1 UMass while NJIT looks to run its win streak to three at LIU.
- Binghamton, UAlbany and Maine face some big-time opponents on Friday, traveling to play Florida Atlantic, UNLV and Kansas respectively.
- Vermont hosts a tournament this weekend, beginning with a matchup against Stonehill on Saturday and then Bryant faces in-state rival Providence on Sunday.

Player of the Week
Kiara Bell, UMBC – Gr., Forward, Santa Rosa, Calif.
- Averaged 15.0 points and 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks per game and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week.
- Capped her week with a career-high 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting with nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a win at St. Francis Brooklyn.
- Opened the week with eight points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals against Richmond.
- This is Bell’s first #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Ella Wanzer, Binghamton – R-Fr., Guard, Buffalo, N.Y.
- Averaged 13.3 points, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per game as Binghamton went 2-1 this past week. Also made 11-of-22 from beyond the arc.
- Netted a team-best 12 points at Syracuse on Nov. 14.
- Capped the week with a career-high 19 points, two assists and two rebounds in a win at Canisius on Nov. 20.
- This is Wanzer’s second #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
