#AEFH Championship Field Set, Top Seed Maine Hosts!

Maine clinched its second consecutive regular season championship and earned the right to host the 2022 #AEFH Championship from Nov. 3-6. The Black Bears went a perfect 8-0 in conference play this season, while UAlbany and UMass Lowell were close behind with 6-2 records.

The championship commences on Thursday at 12 p.m. with quarterfinal action. The final seeds for the 2022 America East Field Hockey Championship are:

1. Maine – 2nd straight regular season championship
2. UAlbany – Earned best seed since 2018
3. UMass Lowell – Secured its highest seed in program history

4. Vermont – Earned first championship berth since 2018
5. Stanford – Reached #AEFH Championship for eighth straight year
6. New Hampshire – Secured 3rd #AEFH Championship berth in the past four seasons.

Though the Great Danes and River Hawks finished with matching 6-2 conference records, UAlbany took the second seed with its win over UMass Lowell during the regular season.

The seeding of the last three spots came down to the final day of the regular season. Vermont needed a late goal in regulation and then scored again in overtime to take down Cal and secure the No. 4 seed thanks to a 5-3 record. Stanford earned the No. 5 seed with a 4-4 record with a 3-0 victory over UNH. The Wildcats and Cal finished with matching 3-5 records, but UNH took the No. 6 seed courtesy of its head-to-head victory earlier this year.

Maine will host the quarterfinal action on Thursday as No. 4 Vermont and No. 5 Stanford play at 12 p.m. while No. 3 UMass Lowell and No. 6 New Hampshire will square off at 3 p.m. Top seed Maine plays Vermont or Stanford in the Semifinals while UAlbany faces New Hampshire or UMass Lowell on Friday beginning at 12 p.m.

Semifinal winners will face off for the 2022 Championship at 12 p.m. on Sunday, November 6.
