#AEFH Week 9: Black Bears Secure Top Seed

BOSTON – No. 23 Maine scored late in regulation to beat Vermont 2-1 and clinch at least a share of the regular season championship. They also secured the top overall seed in the conference championship, entering the final week of action. UAlbany, UMass Lowell & Vermont also clinched championship berths.
 
It’s a battle for playoff positioning this weekend as UAlbany & UMass Lowell seek to earn a top-two seed and a bye into the semifinals as they play Bryant and Cal respectively. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears, Stanford and New Hampshire are fighting for the final two playoff spots. Stanford plays at Maine and UNH, while Cal faces UMass Lowell and UVM. The regular season concludes on Sunday afternoon with the championship bracket released in the evening.

2022 #AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 25
Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week

Haley Mossmer, Stanford – Jr., Forward, La Jolla, Calif.
  • Scored twice in a 2-0 week for the Cardinal.
  • Registered one goal in Stanford’s upset of No. 17 James Madison.
  • Tallied the game-winning goal over Richmond with two minutes remaining in regulation.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Julie Rodijk, UAlbany – Sr., Defense, Huizen, Netherlands
  • Scored twice in a 4-2 victory over UNH.
  • Tallied the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining in regulation and added a second one minute later to secure UAlbany a berth in the Championship field.
  • Part of a defense which limited the league’s second-best scoring defense to just three shots, and shut them out over the final 28 minutes of regulation.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tasmin Cookman – Fr., Midfield, Woking, England
  • Scored twice in a 1-1 week for UNH.
  • Tallied the game-winning goal in overtime against Columbia and scored once in a loss to UAlbany.
  • This is Cookman’s third #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
