#AEWSOC Week 9: Five Teams Secure #AEChamps Spots

BOSTON – With just two #AEWSOC regular-season dates left, the championship picture is coming into focus. Five teams secured bids to the league tournament with UAlbany, Binghamton, Maine, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire locking up berths. For Maine, it's their first bid since 2016 while at th eother end of the spectrum, UNH has secured a league-best ninth-straight appearance. 

While the field is nearly set, the race for seeding is just heating up. Only two points separate those five teams with two games to play. 
 
Four more conference games take place this weekend before the regular season concludes on Thursday, Oct. 27 with four games.
The top six teams in the final #AEWSOC standings will qualify for this year’s America East Women’s Soccer Championship. Championship Central
 
2022 #AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 17
Offensive Player of the Week
Ella Dudley, New Hampshire – Jr., Back, St. Augustine, Fla.
  • Scored a goal in each of UNH’s games last week, her second and third of the season.
  • Netted the long score in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win over Vermont on Sunday and found the back of the net in a 6-1 victory over Bryant on Thursday.
  • This is Dudley’s first #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kira Kutzinski, Maine – Gr., Goalkeeper, Bünde, Germany
  • Stopped all 16 of 17 shots she faced in an unbeaten week for Maine.
  • Made 10 saves and recorded a shutout in a scoreless tie vs. Binghamton on Sun day.
  • Had seven saves in a 1-1 tie with UMass Lowell on Thursday.
  • This is Kutzinski’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
Rookie of the Week
Riley Jones, NJIT – Fr., Defender/Midfielder, Clinton, N.Y.
  • Scored the game-tying goal to help NJIT earn a 1-1 tie vs. UAlbany on Sunday.
  • The goal came in the 71st minute.
  • This is Jones’ first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor.
