#AEVB Week 7: Bryant & UMBC Go Undefeated Over the Weekend

BOSTON – Bryant swept UAlbany and UNH to record their first two conference wins, while UMBC joined them in the win column remaining perfect in conference play. Binghamton went 1-1 on the weekend, recording a sweep against NJIT after a five-set battle UMBC where they came up just short.  
 
Conference play continues this weekend with all six teams in action, highlighted by a matchup between Bryant at Binghamton battling for sole possession of second place. Binghamton also takes on UNH at home, as both teams headed into the weekend with two conference wins. Both contests will be featured on ESPN3. 
  
  
The preseason poll was announced on August 10.  
 
2022 #AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 11 
Player of the Week 
Alysa Wright, Bryant – Sr., Middle Blocker, Wayne, Pa. 
  • Hit .543 on the weekend, averaging 3.83 kills per set and 1.33 blocks per set. 
  • Recorded 13 kills and hit .647 with five blocks in a sweep of UNH. 
  • Had 10 kills while hitting .444 with three blocks in a sweep of UAlbany. 
Setter of the Week 
Mia Cergol, Bryant – Sr., Setter, East Northport, N.Y. 
  • Averaged 12.7 assists per set in a 2-0 week with five kills, seven digs and four aces.
  • Team hit .367 in sweep of UNH as she dished off 39 assists. 
  • Had 37 assists and two kills in a sweep of UAlbany.  
Defensive Specialist of the Week 
Mia Pagliarini, UNH – Sr., Libero, Springboro, Ohio 
  • Averaged 4.14 digs per set in a 1-1 week with four aces and six assists. 
  • In win vs. NJIT averaged 5.0 digs per set with four aces.
  • In a loss to Bryant finished with nine digs and two assists.   
Rookie of the Week 
Kara Oxenknecht, UNH – Fr., Middle Blocker, Naperville, Ill. 
  • Hit .368 while averaging 2.71 kills per set with five total blocks. 
  • Hit .393 with 15 kills and four blocks in win vs NJIT. 
  • This is Oxenknecht’s second #AEVBRookie of the Week honor.
