NJIT Tops Monmouth, Nets Two #AESD Weekly Honors

BOSTON – Three swimming and diving teams competed for the first time in the new year as NJIT, Stony Brook and VMI were the first to open the second half of the season.
 
The Highlanders and Seawolves both earned victories with the former topping Monmouth, 179-110, for their fourth win in the last five meetings against the Hawks.
 
Here are the week #9 awards:
 
Female Swimmer of the Week
Rachel Greathouse, VMI – Fr., Freestyle, Louisville, Ky.
  • Finished second in two events against American.
  • Swam the 200 fly in 2:16.49, snapping the freshman school record.
  • Greathouse also finished second in the 200 free.
 
Male Swimmer of the Week
Matthew Bevan, NJIT – Jr., Freestyle/IM, Barlett, South Africa
  • Swept the breastrokes and helped the Highlanders to a win in the 200 medley relay.
  • Bevan won the 100 breaststroke in 58.28.
  • His winning time of 2:08.64 in the 200 breast earned more points en route to the Highlanders' victory.
 
Female Diver of the Week
London Yerasimides, VMI – Jr., Louisville, Ky.
  • Swept the diving events against American.
  • Won the three-meter with 204.53 points.
  • Won the one-meter with 208.12 points.
 
Male Diver of the Week
Aiden Ban, NJIT – So., Ridgewood, N.J.
  • Swept the dives against Monmouth
  • Scored 271.28 in the 3m and 260.25 in the 1m.
