BOSTON – No. 22 Monmouth and No. 25 Maine enter the NFHCA national rankings heading into the second week of the season. Monmouth topped No. 17 Delaware, 3-2, on Sunday for its third win in a row.
The Black Bears beat Providence for their first win of the season following three games against ranked opponents to open the season. Several midweek games appear on the schedule with a handful of ranked opponents on tap for the weekend.
The preseason poll was released Aug. 11.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEFH this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Alison Smisdom, UAlbany – Fr., Midfielder, Edegum, Belgium
- Led UAlbany to its second win of the season with three goals against Wagner.
- Smisdom scored the game-tying goal before helping the Great Danes pull away.
- This is her first career #AEFH honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Ally Tarantino, Monmouth – Sr., Goalkeeper, Miller Place, N.Y.
- Held strong in cage to guide Monmouth to a 2-0 week.
- Tarantino stopped 10 of the 13 shots she faced for a .769 save percentage.
- This is the first time she has been named Defensive Player of the Week.
