BOSTON – The Maine Black Bears topped No. 20 Monmouth and reigning league champion Stanford last week to begin conference play 2-0.
The Cal Golden Bears returned to the west coast 2-0 in #AEFH play following an overtime victory over UMass Lowell and 3-2 victory at New Hampshire. In one of three other overtime games, UAlbany (1-0) topped Vermont in Burlington. The action resumes Friday with four conference games.
The preseason poll was released Aug. 11.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEFH this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

Offensive Player of the Week
Chloe Walton, Maine – Sr., Forward, North Vancouver, Canada
- Tallied a pair of goals and a pair of assists to help Maine to a 2-0 league record.
- Both of Walton’s goals went down as the game-winners.
- This is her second career Offensive Player of the Week honor and first this season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Cato Knipping, California – Jr., Goalkeeper, Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Stopped 10 of 12 shots for a .833 save percentage in two games.
- Shut out UMass Lowell through overtime to give the Golden Bears a second league win.
- This is Knipping's first Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and second overall.
Rookie of the Week
Alison Smisdom, UAlbany – Fr., Midfielder, Edegem, Belgium
- Set up the game-tying goal in the 56th minute to force overtime.
- Smisdom then scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke in the extra period.
- This is her second Rookie of the Week award.
