BOSTON – After compiling an outstanding 3.90 team GPA during the 2020-21 year, the University of Maine women’s basketball program ranked number one in the 2020-21 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
Led by Head Coach Amy Vachon, the Black Bears built off of last year’s No. 17 WBCA academic ranking and held the highest team grade-point average in any division in women’s basketball. The rankings are based off of cumulative GPAs for the entire 2020-21 year. The Black Bears won their third #AEHoops regular-season title in four seasons this year and hosted the America East championship game.
Maine won its third Walter Harrison Academic Cup in school history this year behind a record-setting 3.62 cumulative GPA among the student-athlete body. The women’s basketball program accumulated the highest team GPA in any America East sport in 2020-21.
