Three #AETF Student-Athletes Headed to NCAA Outdoors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three America East student-athletes are headed to Eugene for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Two female student-athletes who earned All-America status during the cross country season continued their impressive years. Binghamton’s Emily Mackay ran the third-fastest time in the 5000m to punch her ticket to nationals. UMass Lowell graduate student Kaley Richards qualified in the 1500m on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Richards was one of two River Hawks who qualified as Chris Alfond finished twelfth in the 10,000m on Wednesday. All three student-athletes have qualified for outdoor championships for the first time.

These career achievements come after a year-long outdoor hiatus. The 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held for the first time in two years on June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon. Alfond will run in the 10K finals on Wednesday, June 9 at 10:38 p.m. Eastern. Richards is scheduled to run her heat of the 1500m Thursday, June 10 at 6:46 p.m. The finals would be Saturday evening. Mackay’s event is set for 7:55 p.m. on Saturday, June 12.
