BOSTON – An exciting America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship is set for this week. The top four teams in #AEMLAX combined for 25 wins on the season.
UMBC earned the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2009 with its win over NJIT. Vermont also earned a share of the regular-season title for the first time in program history and will be the No. 2 seed. The Retrievers and Catamounts are ranked No. 17 and 18, respectively, in both national polls this week. Stony Brook is the No. 3 seed and UAlbany is the No. 4 seed.
UMBC and UAlbany will square off in the first semifinal on Thursday at 1 p.m. while Vermont and Stony Brook will meet at 4 p.m. in the second semifinal. The winners will play for the #AEMLAX title on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU.

Offensive Player of the Week
David Closterman, Vermont – Jr., Attack, Doyelstown, Pa.
- Had eight goals and four assists in a 2-0 week.
- Racked up six goals and three assists in Saturday’s win over Stony Brook to secure his team a share of regular-season title.
- This is Closterman’s first Offensive Player of the Week of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Tommy Lingner, UMBC – Sr., Goalkeeper, Fort Salonga, N.Y.
- Made a career-high 18 saves in UMBC’s 14-6 win over NJIT on Saturday.
- The win earned UMBC a share of the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the championship.
- This is Lingner’s second Defensive Player of the Week award honor of the season and fourth of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Dylan Pallonetti, Stony Brook – Fr., Attack, Stony Brook, N.Y.
- Had two goals and four assists vs. Vermont
- This is Pallonetti’s seventh Rookie of the Week honor this season.
