BOSTON – Two teams, UMBC and UAlbany, joined Stony Brook in the 2021 #AEMLAX championship field with wins over the weekend. The Retrievers beat the Seawolves in a thrilling overtime contest while the Great Danes downed NJIT.
Binghamton kept its championship hopes alive with an 11-7 win over Vermont. Either the Bearcats or the Catamounts will be the fourth and final team in the field. UVM needs a win in either of its final two games, vs. UAlbany and Stony Brook, or a Binghamton loss to UMass Lowell to secure a bid. Meanwhile, Binghamton must beat the River Hawks and have the Catamounts lose both of its games.
The 2021 #AEMLAX championship takes place May 6-8 at the No. 1 seed, which four teams remain alive for.
Albany (#17), UMBC (#18) and Stony Brook (#19) are all ranked in this week's Inside Lacrosse Top 20.
