NEWARK, N.J. – The 2021 women’s and men’s America East Swimming Championship kicked off Friday at NJIT. Through event 13, reigning champs New Hampshire leads the women’s standings with 252 points and Binghamton leads the men’s standings with 311 points.

Day 1 Highlights
- New Hampshire repeated as 200 yard medley relay champions with a time of 1:44.05.
- Sophomore Jamy Lum of New Hampshire captured her first title in the 500 free in a time of 4:52.99.
- Wildcats’ senior Miranda Bacon took home gold in the 200 IM clocking in at 2:03.89.
- Cate Wardinski of New Hampshire touched the wall at 23.46 to win the 50 free event.
- The Wildcats finished day 1 with another relay win in the 800 yard free relay with a time of 7:27.93.
- In a close opening relay on day 1, NJIT took gold in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:30.55.
- Freshman Liam Murphy of Binghamton won the 500 free in a time of 4:30.57.
- Binghamton Freshman Henry Shemet captured first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.41
- UMBC’s Niklas Weigelt touched the wall in 20.65 to win the 50 free.
- An exciting ending to day 1 during the 800 free relay as NJIT captured gold in a time of 6:43.75

Day 2 events begin with women’s races at 11:00 a.m. followed by men’s competition at 5:45 p.m. The entire meet will air on ESPN+ domestically. Fans outside of the United States can watch the event on AmericaEast.TV.
