Stony Brook Becomes First #AEMLAX Team to Secure an #AEChamps Bid

BOSTON – Stony Brook became the first #AEMLAX to clinch a spot in the 2021 America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship with its win over Binghamton.
 
The Seawolves sit atop the conference standings at 6-1, followed by Vermont at 5-1, UMBC at 5-2 and UAlbany at 4-2. The top four teams in the standings will qualify for the championships.

Stony Brook rose up to #14 in the Inside Lacrosse Poll and #17 in the USILA Poll while UAlbany is #17 in the IL Poll and #20 in USILA’s.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEMLAX Weekly Award Winners – April 19
Offensive Player of the Week
Michael McCannell – Sr., Attack, Orangeville, Ont.
  • Matched his career high with six points in a win over Binghamton that secured a playoff spot for the Seawolves.
  • Had five goals and as assist.
  • This is McCannell’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Colin Kasner, UMBC – Sr., LSDM, Crofton, Md.
  • Led a defensive unit that held UMass Lowell to just seven goals.
  • Picked up six ground balls and caused six turnovers.
  • This is Kasner’s first career Defensive Player of the Week award.
Rookie of the Week
Ethan Landymore, Hartford – Fr., Attack, Okotoks, Alberta
  • Set a career high with four goals in Hartford’s 14-9 win over Hartford.
  • This is Landymore’s first career Rookie of the Week honor this season.
