River Hawks, Cardinal Secure Final #AEFH Championship Bids

BOSTON – A thrilling final week of the regular season featured a handful of win-or-go-home games with two postseason bids on the line. UMass Lowell topped No. 16 Stanford for the first time in program history to secure a championship berth.
 
In a must-win against UAlbany on Sunday, the Cardinal got an overtime goal from Corinne Zanolli to clinch the final spot. #1 Monmouth and #4 UMass Lowell will open championship play Thursday at 12 p.m. in the semifinals. #2 Maine will take on #3 Stanford in the second semifinal. Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEFH this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Offensive Player of the Week
Berbel Rozema, UMass Lowell – So., Forward, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
  • Scored two goals in crucial 3-2 win over Stanford.
  • Rozema’s final tally proved to be the difference.
  • This is her first career Offensive Player of the Week award.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Cato Knipping, California – So., Goalkeeper, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
  • Saved 19 shots in crucial 3-0 week for Cal.
  • Knipping allowed just two goals in three must-win games to close the season.
  • This is her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Eleonore Boekhorst, UMass Lowell – Fr., Goalkeeper, Bilthoven, The Netherlands
  • Made seven saves in critical win over No. 16 Stanford.
  • Allowed two goals to help the River Hawks get back to the postseason.
  • This is her second Rookie of the Week award.
