Opening Day in Major League Baseball arrived, as it normally does, roughly a month into the #AEBASE season. In similarly typical fashion, several former America East standouts earned spots on 40-man opening day rosters.
Two former Pitcher of the Year recipients in Sean Newcomb (Hartford) and Adam Ottavino (Northeastern) made the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox rosters, respectively. Southpaw Daniel Zamora (Stony Brook) made the New York Mets’ 40-man roster and Danny Mendick (UMass Lowell) is back with the Chicago White Sox.
54 America East ball players have been drafted over the past nine years.
