Four of the league's top runners will compete in the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships after their performances in the #AEXC Championships on Friday. It is the first time this century four America East student-athletes will compete in national championships after a trio ran in 2019.
On the heels of sweeping the #AEXC Championships, UMass Lowell will send three as Kyle Cloutier automatically qualified by winning the men’s 8K. Christopher Alfond returns to the national stage for the second consecutive year after finishing second and earning an at-large selection.
Emily Mackay became the first Binghamton Bearcat to win the America East women's title and now becomes the first Bearcat to advance to the NCAA championships. Mackay edged out UMass Lowell’s Kaley Richards by a nose on Friday but both will run again in a week's time. It is the second time this week that Richards has qualified for a national championship after she earned a spot in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships will start at 12:50 p.m. ET on Monday, March 15 hosted by Oklahoma State University. The men’s race will start at 1:40 p.m. ET and the entire event can be watched live on ESPNU.
