UAlbany, Stony Brook Return with Top-10 Performances

BOSTON – A trio of track and field programs competed in invitationals last weekend that did not include team scoring, but were headlined by impressive individual performances. For UAlbany and Stony Brook, it marked the first outdoor competition since 2019.
 
Several other America East teams look to return to action this weekend after a two-year hiatus.
 
#AETF Outdoor Weekly Awards – Mar. 24
Female Track Performer of the Week
Asia Jinks, UAlbany – Sr., Sprints/Hurdles, Hempstead, N.Y.
  • Won the 400m hurdles at the USF Bull Invitational.
  • She finished the sprint in 1:00.08 and also placed second in the 100m hurdles.
  • This is her first outdoor #AETF weekly honor.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Vann Moffett, Stony Brook – Gr., Distance, Niantic, Conn.
  • Ran the sixth-fastest time in the nation for the 1500m.
  • Moffett won the race at the Fordham Icahn Invitational in 3:47.46.
  • This is his second career outdoor #AETF award.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Shania Scott, UAlbany – So., Throws, Bog Walk, Jamaica
  • Currently leads the conference in the shot put and ranks second in the discus throw.
  • She tossed 44’2.5” in the shot put for fourth place at USF and threw the discus 154’.
  • This is her first career Performer of the Week award.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Robert Blue, UAlbany – Jr., Jumps, Harrison,N.Y.
  • Jumped into the nation’s top-five in the triple jump with his performance at USF.
  • Blue’s leap of 52’6” also tied a school record.
  • This is his first weekly honor of the season.
