BOSTON – The spring 2021 cross country championships are nearly one week away. Five programs competed last weekend, four of which ran against each other. Vermont hosted UAlbany, Binghamton and Hartford in a quad meet.
Binghamton swept the meet and took the top-four spots in the men’s race. The #AEXC Championships are scheduled for March 5 at Seaview Golf Course in Galloway, N.J. Visit Championship Central for more information.
Here are the first weekly awards of the season:
Female Performer of the Week
Emily Mackay, Binghamton – Sr., Endicott, N.Y.
- Won the women’s 5K at Vermont.
- Mackay crossed the line in 16:38, which was four seconds ahead of the runner-up.
- Led the Bearcats to a team win to open the season.
- This is her first #AEXC honor of the season.
Male Performer of the Week
Ryan Guerci, Binghamton – So., Nanuet, N.Y.
- Won the men’s race at Vermont in a time of 23:26.
- Guerci finished the 8K course seven seconds ahead of his teammates.
- It was his first collegiate win.
- This is Guerci’s first career #AEXC weekly award.
