UMBC, Stony Brook Head into Break on Winning Notes, Earning #AESD Awards

BOSTON – UMBC men's swimming and diving won ECAC Championships while Stony Brook women won the CCSU Blue Devil Invite as the calendar flipped to December.
 
UNH battles Northeastern this upcoming weekend in the final meet for #AESD teams before the new year. The rest of the programs have entered winter break and will return to competition in mid-January.
 
Here are the week #8 awards:
 
Female Swimmer of the Week
Anna Metzler, New Hampshire – Sr., Freestyle/IM, Regensburg, Germany
  • Set a new school record in the 200 IM with a winning time of 1:58.32 at Brown.
  • Also met NCAA qualifying standards in the 400 IM with a 4:08.21 personal best.
  • Metzler then won the 200 backstroke in 1:57.19 on Sunday.
 
Male Swimmer of the Week
Kai Wisner, UMBC – Sr., Freestyle, Syracuse, N.Y.
  • Won a trio of events to help UMBC win the ECAC Championship.
  • Wisner won the 1650 freestyle in 15:34.94, leading the conference.
  • Also won the 400 IM with the fastest time in the conference this season.
 
Female Diver of the Week
Sara DiStefano, Stony Brook – So., Staten Island, N.Y.
  • Fifth in the one-meter dive at CCSU with a score of 208.
  • DiStefano earned 187.5 points in the three-meter.
  • She is the second consecutive Seawolf to be named Female Diver of the Week.
  
Male Diver of the Week
Will Henrickson, UMBC – Jr., Ellicott City, Md.
  • Swept the diving events to help the Retrievers to victory.
  • Recorded a score of 282.05 in the one-meter dive.
  • Henrickson won the three-meter with 266.4 points.
