UAlbany, Vermont Start December 2-0, Earn #AEHoops Weekly Honors

BOSTON – UAlbany and Vermont are off to 2-0 starts in the month of December, continuing strong play at home. The Great Danes followed Thanksgiving week with a pair of 20-point wins while the Catamounts won home games against LIU and Loyola Chicago last week.
 
Looking Back
  • The Great Danes remained perfect at SEFCU arena with a win over Bryant, their second home win this season.
  • UVM improved to 4-1 at Patrick Gym.
  • UMass Lowell topped Cornell 53-44 on Wednesday – the team’s first road win of 2021-22.
  • Junior Denise Solis recorded her first double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the River Hawks’ narrow loss at UMass Sunday.
  • Binghamton junior Denai Bowman dropped 27 points against Patriot League favorite Lehigh on Saturday.
 
Looking Ahead
  • Stony Brook looks to get back in the win column Tuesday night as the team hosts Marist.
  • Four teams play at home on Wednesday on ESPN+/3.
  • UAlbany plays at Vanderbilt in a Wednesday matinee.
  • UNH plays an ACC road game Saturday as the Wildcats travel to Boston College.
  • UMass Lowell hosts Towson then travels to Yale Saturday.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

The women’s #AEHoops preseason poll was announced on Oct. 20.
 
2021-22 Weekly Award Winners (Dec. 6)
Player of the Week
Emma Utterback, Vermont – Jr., Guard, Greenwood, Ind.
  • Averaged 14.5 points on 56 percent shooting in two wins.
  • Career-high 23 points led UVM to a win over Loyola Chicago.
  • Utterback grabbed eight rebounds Sunday and averaged 5.5 in the two games.
  • This is her first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Lilly Phillips, UAlbany – Fr., Guard, Greenwich, N.Y.
  • Started at point guard for the Great Danes and averaged 7.5 points per game.
  • Shot 56 percent in the two games combined.
  • Led the team with five steals last week.
  • This is the first Rookie of the Week honor for Phillips.
