Cahill Named America East Senior Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs

BOSTON – America East Commissioner Brad Walker announced today the hiring of Bridgette Cahill as the conference’s new Senior Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs. Cahill, who has served as Brown University’s Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance since 2016, will start her role at America East on January 12.

“We are elated to add Bridgette to our staff as she set herself apart from other candidates during the interview process by conveying her applicable skill sets and prior experience as well as establishing an understanding of our core competencies and culture at America East,” said Walker. “She will be a great fit on our staff as we focus on continuing to provide exceptional service to our member institutions entering the new year.”

At Brown, Cahill served as a member of the athletic department’s senior leadership team and oversaw all aspects of compliance and governance for Brown’s athletic department. She also served as the sport supervisor for five programs and was the primary liaison to several key offices on campus, including the registrar’s office and general counsel. Prior to joining Brown’s staff, Cahill was the Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Affairs at Temple for one year and was the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Seton Hall prior to that.

"I am excited to join the America East Conference staff and serve our member institutions," said Cahill. "I would like to thank Commissioner Walker and the search committee for this wonderful opportunity. The America East Conference has been an industry leader in serving student-athletes, and after 10 years working on campus, I am excited about impacting the student-athlete experience on a broader scale.”

At America East, Cahill will serve as the primary liaison to the league’s member institutions in the areas of compliance and governance. She will head up all aspects of the conference’s compliance program and coordinate all legislative and governance activities, managing both conference and national issues for league members.

Additionally, Cahill will oversee all academic-related issues, be involved in the conference’s student-athlete engagement initiatives and serve as the primary administrator for at least one conference championship. She will liaise with various conference committees, including the Faculty Athletic Representatives, Compliance Administrators and Academic Advisors among other groups.

Cahill earned her undergraduate degree in 2006 from Brown, where she was a four-year member of the swimming and diving program. She also earned her master’s from Temple University in 2011 in sport and recreation management.
