BOSTON – America East women’s basketball teams found more success in the second week of the season, headlined by another win over a Big Ten opponent. Maine, NJIT and Stony Brook each picked up two wins last week.
Looking Back
- Stony Brook remains unbeaten and earned its third win over a Power-5 opponent in four seasons with Tuesday morning’s 53-44 victory at Rutgers.
- The Seawolves then topped Iona on the road and, at 5-0, are off to their best start since 2017-18.
- Maine earned its first win of the season against Yale, serving the Bulldogs their first lost of the season.
- The Black Bears followed with another road win on Sunday over Boston University.
- NJIT has not lost since a monumental road win over Wisconsin, topping LIU and CCSU last week.
Looking Ahead
- A trio of home games start week three in women’s hoops as UNH, Hartford and Binghamton play in their home arenas on Tuesday.
- The Seawolves travel to Columbia for a Wednesday afternoon tilt.
- The Black Bears head to West Point for their next game on Friday against Army.
- Amy Vachon’s team then goes to Princeton to take on one of the top teams in the country on Sunday.
- UAlbany plays Boston College Sunday in a battle between the two most recent Great Danes head coaches.

Player of the Week
Anne Simon, Maine – Jr., Guard, Sandweiler, Luxembourg
- Averaged 18.3 points per game against Delaware, Yale and Boston University.
- Simon shot 47 percent from the floor to help Maine to a 2-1 record in those games.
- She averaged 2.7 steals per game, led by a four-steal showing Sunday at BU.
- This is her second career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Bailey Wilborn, Maine – Fr., Guard, Wichita, Kansas
- Averaged 9.0 points per game in 2-1 week.
- Wilborn shot 41 percent from three-point range, which included a late three against Yale to give the Black Bears the lead for good.
- She scored 12 points in each win.
- This is her first weekly honor.
