UMBC Wins Regular Season, Stony Brook Clinches #AEVB Bid

BOSTON – UMBC (10-0) continued its torrid play against conference opponents, securing the program’s first outright regular-season title with Friday’s win over Hartford.

It marked the second-consecutive season in which the Retrievers have won at least a share of the regular-season trophy. The team has not lost a game since Sept. 20 and has only dropped five sets along its ten-game win streak.

Stony Brook (6-3) secured a championship berth on Sunday while UAlbany (6-3) and New Hampshire (6-4) - the other two teams currently holding a top-four spot - battled to five sets with the Great Danes coming away victorious. The 2021 #AEVB Championship will begin Nov. 19 at UMBC with the semifinals. Visit Championship Central for full details.

The preseason poll was released on Aug. 12.
