Smisdom Wins it in Overtime; Stanford Clinches Final #AEFH Berth

BOSTON – The field hockey regular season concluded in dramatic fashion on Sunday and postseason play will begin this week.

Stanford topped UMass Lowell, 3-0, yesterday to secure the final postseason bid in a must-win game for both squads. Maine won its first outright regular-season title since 2017 and fifth overall. Each game will be played in Orono, starting with the quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 4. Monmouth earned a bye and the No. 2 seed with its win over UC Davis and will play the winner of No. 3 UAlbany/No. 6 Stanford on Friday. The Black Bears will face the No. 4 Cal/No. 5 UNH winner.

The Great Danes topped the Cardinal in the teams' regular-season contest. The Golden Bears got the better of the Wildcats. Both were one-goal games.
