New Hampshire Opens Season with Win over Vermont, Nets Two #AESD Awards

BOSTON – UNH opened its swimming season last weekend with a victory over UVM at Forbush Natatorium.
 
NJIT also hopped in the pool for the first time, coming in second to Georgetown while outscoring UConn. UMBC battled Navy while Binghamton took on Bucknell.
 
Here are the week #3 awards:
 
Female Swimmer of the Week
Anna Metzler, New Hampshire – Sr., Freestyle/IM, Regensburg, Germany
  • Won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.37) and 200 back (2:01.89) in Vermont.
  • Set a pool record with her 2:04.45 time in the 200 IM.
 
Male Swimmer of the Week
Xiaoyu Lin, Binghamton – So., Breaststroke, Flushing, N.Y.
  • Won the 200 breast in 2:06.94 at Bucknell.
  • Lin also placed second in the 100 breast with a 57.17 time that leads the conference.
 
Female Diver of the Week
Keira Moon, New Hampshire – So., Middleton, Mass.
  • Won the three-meter dive at Vermont with 218.55 points, helping Wildcats to victory.
  • Her 211.20 points in the one-meter earned the second spot on the podium.
 
Male Diver of the Week
Chris Egan, Binghamton – Sr., Central Valley, N.Y.
  • Swept the diving events against Bucknell.
  • Egan scored 294.90 in the one-meter and surpassed the 300-point mark in the three-meter.
