UMBC Secures #AEVB Championship Bid; Rigsbee Earns Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON – UMBC (9-0) clinched a championship berth with two more wins last weekend. Winners of nine straight, the Retrievers have also secured at least a share of the regular-season title for the second consecutive season.

The Retrievers can lock up the right to host the championship with a win this weekend. New Hampshire (5-3), Stony Brook (5-3) and UAlbany (4-3) currently hold the remaining three spots for the championship heading into this week with several possible clinching scenarios. Conference play resumes Friday – the first of two game days this weekend.

The preseason poll was released on Aug. 12.
