Historic Ending to #AEWSOC Season on Tap

BOSTON – A historic and exciting finish is playing out in America East women’s soccer. With just two regular-season dates left on the schedule, no team has locked up a championship bid as of yet as just five points separates the top seven teams in the standings.
 
The hottest team in the league, Vermont, winners of five in a rown, took over first place with wins over UAlbany and UMass Lowell. The Catamounts (15 pts.) sit a point ahead of Binghamton, which tied twice last week and has 14 pts. UMass Lowell is next with 13 followed by UAlbany (11), Hartford (11), New Hampshire (10), NJIT (10), Stony Brook (7), UMBC (4) and Maine (4).
 
The top six teams in the conference standings based on points percentage will be qualify for the 2021 America East women’s soccer championship.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 18
Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Kelly Severini, Hartford – So., Defender, Union, N.J.
  • Scored a goal in each of Hartford’s two games last week.
  • Had the second scored in a 2-2 tie with UMass Lowell on Thursday and netted the game winner vs. Stony Brook on Sunday.
  • These are her first career Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week awards.

Defensive Player of the Week
Molly Saylor, NJIT – Jr., Goalkeeper, South Park, Pa.
  • Stopped all 14 shots she faced in recording two shutouts last week.
  • Had 10 saves in a double-overtime tie at UMBC on Thursday and made four saves in a win at UNH on Sunday.
  • These are Saylor’s first Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
