UAlbany, UMBC Increase #AEVB Win Streaks

BOSTON – UMBC and UAlbany kept rolling last weekend as both programs beat a pair of America East opponents.
 
The Retrievers remain perfect (5-0) in conference play while the Great Danes have won three straight since dropping their league opener to Binghamton. Elsewhere, Stony Brook topped New Hampshire in five sets and Hartford topped Binghamton 3-1. The double round robin format rolls on as six more matches will be played this weekend starting on Friday on AE.TV.
 
 
The preseason poll was released on Aug. 12.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEVB this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 12
Player of the Week
Danielle Tedesco, UAlbany – Gr., Middle Blocker, Cazenovia, N.Y.
  • Hit .422 to lead the Great Danes to wins over Hartford and NJIT.
  • Averaged 3.43 kills per set and blocked 13 shots in seven sets.
  • This is Tedesco’s first Player of the Week nod this season and second overall.
 
Setter of the Week
Andjelija Draskovic, UMBC – Jr., Setter, Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia
  • Averaged 9.67 assists per set in 2-0 week.
  • UMBC hit .388 on her sets in wins over NJIT and UNH.
  • This is Draskovic’s second consecutive Setter of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Loren Teter, UMBC – Gr., Libero, Redondo Beach, Calif.
  • Averaged 4.17 digs per set, helping Retrievers stretch their win streak to five.
  • Teter anchored a defense that held both opponents to a negative hitting percentage.
  • This is her league-high fourth Defensive Specialist of the Week this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Camryn Luginbuhl, Hartford – Fr., Outside Hitter, Tolland, Conn.
  • Averaged 4.14 kills per set and 4.29 digs per set in two matches.
  • Had game-high 19 kills and added 14 digs in win over Binghamton – Luginbuhl’s second double-double last weekend.
  • This is her third league-high fourth Rookie of the Week nod.
