#AEWSOC Standings Tight as Season Hits Home Stretch

BOSTON – With just four conference games remaining for each team, the 2021 #AEWSOC season is coming down the stretch and all 10 teams are still in postseason contention.
 
UMass Lowell and Binghamton, which beat NJIT on Sunday, sit tied atop the standings with 12 points each. Vermont follows in third place with nine points after its third-straight shutout win, a 2-0 victory at Hartford. UAlbany sits in fourth place with eight points after it dealt the River Hawks their first league loss on Jasmine Colbert’s overtime score. Hartford (7 pts.), UNH (7), Stony Brook (6), NJIT (6), UMBC (3) and Maine (3) round out the standings.
 
Ten more league contests take place this week with conference games set for Thursday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 17.

Each team will play a nine-game schedule in the single round robin format. The top six teams in the conference standings based on points percentage will be qualify for the 2021 America East women’s soccer championship.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of #AEWSOC this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 11
Offensive Player & Co-Rookie of the Week
Abby Kraemer, Maine – Fr., Forward, Waterloo, Ont.
 
  • Racked up five points in Maine’s 4-1 win over Stony Brook on Sunday, the most by any America East player.
  • Scored twice and added an assist to lift the Black Bears to their first league win and first victory over the Seawolves since 2017.
  • These are her first career Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week awards.

Defensive Player & Co-Rookie of the Week
Cassandra Coster, UAlbany – Fr., Goalkeeper, Poughquag, N.Y.
  • Stopped all 11 shots she faced in UAlbany’s 1-0 overtime win at previously league unbeaten UMass Lowell on Sunday.
  • The 11 saves were a career high for Coster.
  • These are Coster’s first career Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week awards.
