BOSTON – America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen announced today a trio of promotions as longtime staff members Kate Bergstrom, Chad Dwyer and Sean Tainsh were all elevated to the Senior Associate Commissioner level. Along with Matt Bourque, the quartet of Senior Associate Commissioners make up Huchthausen’s management team.

“Kate, Chad and Sean have been valuable members of the conference staff for several years and are well deserving of their promotions,” said Huchthausen. “They have a positive impact on our staff and membership and I rely on their guidance regularly as members of my management team. Over the past few months as we have adapted to the realities of working during a pandemic, their contributions and leadership have been integral to our operation internally and externally and they have risen to the challenge. Their dedication to serving our membership is evident in the work they do every day and will no doubt continue in their new roles.”

Bergstrom will start her sixth year at the conference in 2020-21 and her first as Senior Associate Commissioner, Internal Operations/SWA. Her responsibilities include oversight of the conference's finances and budget, human resources and general business operations. She leads many of the conference's leadership initiatives, including #SpreadRespect, health and safety and mental health. She will assume the SWA role and will work with the SWA Committee and will continue as the primary liaison for several key conference groups, including the Health & Safety and Student-Athlete Engagement Committees. Bergstrom also serves as the conference's primary administrative contact and championship director for select sports.

Dwyer, who has been with the conference for more than a decade, was named Senior Associate Commissioner, Championships & Sport Policy. He has served as Associate Commissioner for the past five years and in his role oversees policies and operations for America East’s 18 championship sports, including the planning and event operations for America East championships. Dwyer, who is the primary administrative contact for select sports, including women’s basketball, also oversees the league’s officiating bureau for a number of sports and is the conference’s primary liaison to the Championships and Competition Committee (CCC) and the America East Alumni Network. He will soon complete a term on the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee, including serving the past year as chair.

Tainsh, who is in his 13th year at America East, was promoted to Senior Associate Commissioner, Content Strategy. He oversees the conference’s content team, which promotes the league’s brand messaging by developing unique content and distributing it across several platforms, including the conference website, digital network and social media channels. Tainsh, who is the primary media relations contact for several sports, including men’s basketball, also oversees the conference’s public relations strategy and serves as its primary spokesman. He is also the conference's primary administrative contact and championship director for select sports.
