America East Spread Respect Conversations Tackle Racial Injustice 6/25/2020 9:45:32 AM BOSTON – As part of its commitment to help end racial inequality, America East is launching a new education series in an effort to be part of the solution. America East Spread Respect Conversations will bring together people from around the conference to discuss issues of racial injustice and equality. This inaugural episode, which is Thursday and will be moderated by America East Commissioner, Amy Huchthausen, will feature UMass Lowell Head Women's Basketball Coach Tom Garrick and University of Vermont's Associate AD for Student-Athlete Development and Academic Affairs/SWA Cathy Rahill. The duo will engage in a conversation about racial injustice, allyship and how to have these conversations with your coaching staff and student-athletes. This first episode is available exclusively to America East head and assistant coaches. Over 120 coaches are registered for the event. Future episodes will be announced in the coming weeks. America East is steadfast in its commitment to ending racial inequality. The conference’s Spread Respect initiative, launched several years ago, raises awareness to ensure equality and safety for all student-athletes, coaches and fans without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
