The America East Conference reached out to select members of the 2020 class and asked them to reflect on their collegiate experience and what graduating means to them.

Being an AE Senior
By: Barbara Badeer

I would say as a graduating senior, and especially having all this time to reflect, things really come full circle for me. Early mornings and late nights and everything in between all devoted to one purpose, being the best student, athlete and teammate, I could be. And it took until now to realize how much work and effort was put into each and every day. It makes me proud to have accomplished all of that.

Through this experience I have learned there will be bad days, tough realities and challenges. There will be hard things to face and times where it feels overwhelming. In these moments, I have seen some of. My most proud accomplishments on the other side.

Say yes more. Offer to do things that are out of your perceived. Comfort zone. I was a creature of comfort and rarely liked to be exposed to things that made me fell “awkward.” Once I started, I realized that there are more opportunities when you give them a real chance. This was how I found my way to a SAAC meeting freshman year and became a leader on the E-board a few years later.

While it has been hard for soccer to come to an end, I have realized that when I have drive and passion, time does fly. I am excited to take all that I have learned during my time as a Bearcat and am grateful for everyone who I have met along the way. I wish all the graduating AE seniors the best of luck in the future. Here’s to the Class of 2020!
