BOSTON – Seventy-two America East student-athletes have been named America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes highlighting their outstanding academic achievements throughout their standout collegiate careers.

The award recognizes graduating student-athletes who compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher as an undergraduate student and earned their undergraduate degrees this year. In addition to registering a 3.75 GPA for their college career, honored student-athletes must have received their undergraduate degree in the academic year they are honored and have attended their institution for a minimum of two years.

The list of honorees is headlined by two-time women’s soccer Midfielder of the Year, Sierra Stone from Hartford as well as women’s basketball Defensive Player of the Year Hannah Crymble from Vermont. It also includes numerous All-Conference and All-Academic honorees.
The full listing can be viewed here.

“These student-athletes represent the best of the America East Conference,” said commissioner, Amy Huchthausen. “To achieve a cumulative 3.75 GPA while balancing the rigors of being a Division I student-athlete is truly impressive and we commend them on their achievement.”

Hartford and Maine each led the way with 12 student-athletes honored, followed by UAlbany and UMBC each with 11.

The Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award was approved by the America East Board of Presidents in June of 2013 and implemented for 2013-14 academic year. In total, 427 elite student-athletes have been honored as part of the program.
