Inaugural America East Esports Invitational Postponed
BOSTON – The America East Conference announced this morning that its inaugural Esports Invitational, scheduled to take place on April 18 at the University at Albany, has been postponed. The date of the re-scheduled event will be announced at a later time.
The postponement is a result of the COVID-19 virus pandemic and multiple orders restricting public gatherings from local, state and federal health and government officials as well as the CDC. This is a proactive decision to protect the health, safety and well-being of all competitors, event officials and l attendees.
The event, a venture of the America East Academic Consortium, was scheduled to take place at UAlbany’s new 400-seat auditorium in its Campus Center. The Esports Invitational was to feature teams consisting of students from each of the nine America East member institutions competing against each other in a single-elimination SuperSmash Bros. Ultimate tournament.
