#AEWLAX Week 4 Awards Handed Out

BOSTON – Three #AEWLAX programs earned wins last week; UMBC, Binghamton and Vermont. This week is highlighted by No. 6 Stony Brook taking on No. 11 Princeton this Sunday at 12pm. Stony Brook was ranked in three national polls this week; No. 6 in the IWLCA DI Coaches' Poll, No. 6 in the Inside Lacrosse DI Poll and No. 5 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll. Here are the conference's weekly award winners:
 
#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – March 2

Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Tortora, UAlbany – Sr., Midfielder, North Syracuse, N.Y.
  • Tallied 6 points (4G, 2A) in the Great Danes' lone game of the week vs. No. 14 Michigan.
  • Tortora’s 4 goals were unassisted.
  • She also had 3 draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
  • This is Tortora’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lexi Roberts, UMBC – Jr., Goalkeeper, Baldwin, Md.
  • Made 11 saves, had a 55% save percentage and 4 ground balls in win against Bucknell.
  • This is Roberts’ first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Tiana Vazquez, Hartford – Fr., Defender, New Windsor, N.Y.
  • Netted hat tricks in back-to-back games against Yale and Holy Cross.
  • Also had a ground ball and a draw control.
  • This is Vazquez’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.

Feb. 24 – Offensive Player of the Week: Hailey Carroll, UAlbany; Defensive Player of the Week: Georgia Schneidereith, UAlbany; Rookie of the Week: Izzy Liquori, UMass Lowell
March 2 - Offensive Player of the Week: Sam Tortora, UAlbany; Defensive Player of the Week: Lexi Roberts, UMBC; Rookie of the Week: Tiana Vazquez, Hartford
