#AEBASE Conference Play Lies Ahead as Week #4 Awards Bestowed
BOSTON – UMBC picked up an impressive win on the diamond for the second week in a row, beating Power-5 foe Penn State 10-5 on Saturday. Stony Brook took two of three from NEC favorite CCSU in the home-opening weekend for the Seawolves. Binghamton and Hartford each won road series, with the former sweeping VMI.
Conference play starts this weekend with UMBC hosting Maine and Hartford hosting Stony Brook.

#AEBASE Weekly Award Winners – Mar. 10
Player of the Week
Alex Baratta, Binghamton – Sr., 2B, Gladstone, N.J.
- Slashed .538/.600/.615 with five runs and four RBI in three-game sweep of VMI.
- Baratta leads the league in hits and runs batted in.
- This is the first Player of the Week award of his season and second of his career.
Pitcher of the Week
Nicholas Dombkowski, Hartford – Jr., LHP, West Springfield, Mass.
- Tossed seven scoreless innings while striking out eight against The Citadel.
- The junior allowed just one walk and three hits to earn his third win of the season.
- This is his second Pitcher of the Week award this season and fourth of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Cregg Scherrer, UAlbany – Fr., LHP, Skaneateles, N.Y.
- Scherrer turned in an eight-inning outing against Manhattan, striking out seven to no walks en route to a win.
- Second-straight start going eight innings allowing one run or less.
- This is his second consecutive Rookie of the Week nod.
