Vermont Captures #AEWLAX Week #1 Awards
BOSTON – Vermont women’s lacrosse kicked off the first week of #AEWLAX as they defeated Merrimack 19-11 in their season opener. The remaining #AEWLAX teams will begin their season’s with games scheduled throughout the week, highlighted by #12/10 Stony Brook visiting #4 Syracuse tonight at 5pm.

#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 10
Offensive Player of the Week
Maris Large, Vermont – So., Attack, Lancaster, Pa.
- Scored 4 goals in Vermont’s season opener win against Merrimack.
- Also had 4 draw controls, 2 assists and a ground ball.
- This is Large’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie McLaughlin, Vermont – So., Goalkeeper, Keene, N.H.
- Made six saves in first career start in Vermont’s season opener win.
- This is McLaughlin’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Ava Vasile, Vermont – Fr., Midfielder, Milford, Mass.
- Recorded a hat trick in her collegiate debut.
- Matched a game high with 5 draw controls and had 2 ground balls.
- This is Vasile’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
