Bodrug’s Perfect Game Highlights Strong Week for #AESB Teams
BOSTON – It was a strong week for #AESB teams as the six squads in action went a combined 16-11. That included Stony Brook, which went perfect 5-0 highlighted by a 7-0 win over Cornell in which junior pitcher hurled a perfect game.
Here are the conference's second weekly award winners of the 2020 season:
#AESB Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 25
Player of the Week
Jourdin Hering, Stony Brook – Sr., Outfielder, Federal Way, Wash.
- Slashed .550/.571/1.050 with 10 runs scored and six RBI in a perfect 5-0 week.
- Had seven extra-base hits, including five doubles a triple and a home run.
- Hit for the cycle in a win over Providence.
- This is Hering’s first career Player of the Week honor.
Pitcher of the Week
Dawn Bodrug, Stony Brook – Jr., Pitcher, Georgetown, Ont.
- Went 3-0 while allowing just two earned runs and four hits in 17 innings pitched.
- Had a 0.75 ERA and struck out 35 batters.
- Pitched perfect game vs. Cornell Sunday and struck out 15.
- This is Bodrug’s first career Player of the Week.
Rookie of the Week
Madison Petrella, UAlbany – Fr., Catcher, League City, Texas
- Had a 1.881 OPS going 8-for-14 with three doubles and two home runs in a in 3-2 week.
- Drove in nine runs.
- This is Pertrella’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
