Richards, Davis Earn Fourth #AETF Awards of Indoor Season; Championships Begin Friday

BOSTON – Strong performances aim to carry student-athletes into Boston University for the 2020 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. Three female mile runners from a trio of programs ran the top-three times in the conference last weekend, all at the BU Hemery Valentine Invitational.
 
For the fourth straight year, the #AETF Indoor Championships will be held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The two-day meet begins Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. and can be viewed live on AmericaEast.tv starting at 1:30 p.m. Visit #AETF Championship Central for full details.
 
Here are the conference's week #8 award winners of the 2019-20 season:

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 18
Female Track Performer of the Week
Kaley Richards, UMass Lowell – Sr., Distance, Lowell, Mass.
  • Ran a 4:38.97 mile at the BU Hemery Valentine Invitational.
  • The time was seven seconds faster than her previous best and fastest in America East this season.
  • This is her league-best fourth Performer of the Week award this season.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Garfield Napier, UAlbany – Jr., Sprints, Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Leads the conference in the 60-meter dash after sprinting to a 6.79 finish at the Tyson Invitational.
  • Napier placed 14th in the event behind a personal-best time.
  • This is his first #AETF weekly honor of the season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Shelby Bigsby, UAlbany – So., Throws, Monclair, N.J.
  • Competed in both the shot put and the weight throw at the Tyson Invitational.
  • Bigsby’s toss of 48’0.75” in the shot put is the best in the conference.
  • This is her second Performer of the Week honor during her indoor campaign.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Terrel Davis, Hartford – Sr., Jumps, Beacon, N.Y.
  • Jumped a season-best 25’6.25” in the long jump at BU.
  • Davis now ranks 15th in the country in the event.
  • He has been named Male Field Performer of the Week a league-high four times.
