Binghamton Takes Early Lead on Day 1 of 2020 #AESD Championship
Worcester, Mass. – The 2020 America East Swimming and Diving Championships commenced Thursday at WPI. It’s the third consecutive year since 2013 that men’s swimming and diving teams competed in the championship.

Day 1 Highlights
- New Hampshire won each of tonight’s events on day 1 of the championship. The 800-yard freestyle relay captured gold with a time of 7:18.20. Anna Metzler set a new America East record in the 200 free as a member of the 800 free relay with a lead-off time of 1:47.12. Allison Stefanelli won the 1-meter diving with a score of 233.55 and the 200 medley relay clocked in at 1:41.43.
- Binghamton sophomore Chris Egan earned first place in the men’s 3-meter diving by scoring 283.80.
- The men’s relays were swept by UMBC as the 800 free relay won in a time of 6:34.53 and the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:29.12.
Day 2 events begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday with trials in the men’s and women’s 500-yard freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, 50-yard freestyle and women’s 3-meter diving. Finals in nine events start at 5:30 p.m. The #AESD Championships can be streamed live all weekend long on AmericaEast.TV.
