First 2020 #AESB Honors Bestowed as Season Begins
BOSTON – Hartford and UMass Lowell both picked up their first #AESB wins of the new season as the 2020 seasib got underway and River Hawks’ head coach Danielle Henderson picked up her 100th career win.
Here are the conference's first weekly award winners of the 2020 season:
#AESB Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 11
Player of the Week
Kelsey Galevich, Hartford – So., Catcher/First Base, Hillsborough, N.J.
- Had a 1.642 OPS, hitting .571 with a 1.071 slugging percentage in four games.
- Stroked four extra base hits (2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run).
- Drove in five runs and scored four.
- This is Galevich’s first career Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lovina Capria, UMass Lowell – Jr., Pitcher, Deltona, Fla.
- Went 2-0 last week, picking up wins in both UMass Lowell victories.
- Struck out seven.
- This is Capria’s first #AESB Pitcher of the Week honor and fourth of her career.
Rookie of the Week
Emma Armstrong, Hartford = Fr., First Base/Outfield, Irwin, Pa.
- Hit .333 (5-of-15) with a double in four games.
- Had three runs and three RBI.
- This is Armstrong’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
