Stony Brook Riding Third-Longest Win Streak in Country; #AEHoops Week #10 Awards Revealed

BOSTON – Saturday road wins capped off another 2-0 week for Stony Brook and UMass Lowell putting both teams at 4-0 in league play. The Seawolves are one of just three teams in the country with an active win streak of at least 13 games. The River Hawks have won five straight and eight of their last ten after starting the season 0-7. They are 4-0 to start conference play for the first time in program history.
 
Eight more games lie ahead this week, starting with Wednesday’s matinee as UMass Lowell hosts Maine. For the second-straight year the top eight teams in the standings will earn #AEPlayoffs berths with the top four teams garnering home quarterfinal games.

Here are the conference’s week #10 women’s basketball awards of the 2019-20 season:
 
Player of the Week
Hanna Crymble, Vermont – Sr., Forward, Champlin, Minn.
  • Averaged 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 1-1 week.
  • Crymble led the Catamounts to their first league win of the season with 23 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks against UMBC.
  • This is her first #AEHoops Player of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Carmen Villalobos, Hartford – Fr., Forward, Cadiz, Spain
  • In the Hawks’ lone game of the week, Villalobos finished with a stat line of 21 points, five rebounds and four steals.
  • Her 21 points were a team-high and came on 54 percent shooting, including 3-for-6 from three-point range.
  • This is her first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week award.
