Zanolli Leads No. 21 Stanford to Upset; Week #2 #AEFH Awards Announced

BOSTON – With its 3-2 shootout victory over No. 7 Michigan, No. 21 Stanford capped off a 2-0 week in upsetting fashion. A 2-0 week for Monmouth with wins over Villanova and Hofstra has the Hawks (3-1) atop the #AEFH East Division.
 
Seventeen games lie ahead this week, six of which feature top-25 opponents. In the newest coaches poll, the Cardinal moved up to 18th in the country while UAlbany (20) also moved up and Maine (24) still remains ranked.

#AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 10
Offensive Player of the Week
Corinne Zanolli, Stanford – Jr., Attack, Newtown Square, Pa.
  • Was instrumental in a 2-0 week for the Cardinal which included a win over No. 7 Michigan.
  • Totaled three goals and an assist in the two games and scored the game-winner in the shootout against the Wolverines.
  • This is Zanolli’s first Offensive Player of the Week this season and third of her career.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sierra Espeland, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Stafford, Va.
  • Finished the week with a 1.00 goals against average and .818 save percentage.
  • Shut out Hofstra as the Catamounts ended the week in the win column.
  • This is Espeland’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and second of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Yasmin Pratt, Monmouth – Fr., Forward, Wicklow, Ireland
  • Had a five-point game in Monmouth’s win at Hofstra, scoring the game-winning goal.
  • Tallied a pair of shots against Villanova en route to securing a 2-0 week for the Hawks.
  • This is Pratt’s second consecutive weekly honor after being named Offensive Player of the Week last week.

Sept. 10 – Offensive Player of the Week: Corinne Zanolli, Stanford; Defensive Player of the Week: Sierra Espeland, Vermont; Rookie of the Week: Yasmin Pratt, Monmouth.
